Research departments
The Research sector of NCB Naturalis currently comprises four separate departments.
Terrestrial Zoology
(insects, myriapods, arachnids, terrestrial molluscs, amphibians and reptiles),

(marine animal groups and freshwater fishes),

(incl. palaeontology, gemmology, and mineralogy).
Botany
(Vascular plants, mosses, and macro fungi)
Each department contains between six and fifteen permanent scientists, and a varying number of PhD candidates, guest researchers and students. The Scientific Director is responsible for the contact with the universities and other research organizations as well as our research policy. The Associate Director of Research and Education is responsible for the management of the sector.
